16.2 Megapixel camera for Large Format, cooled CCD Astrophotography
It’s also an excellent match for longer focal lengths, capturing intricate details on even the smallest and faintest of objects. Whatever your astrophotography style, the large size of the images give you the freedom and flexibility to zoom in and take a closer look at regions of interest with the level of detail you'd expect from your main target.
The large size of the sensor is a match for 2" filters, and is perfectly complemented by the new EFW3 7-position 2" filter wheel. Attaching the EFW3 straight to the front of the camera gives a backfocus of 41.5mm. You can also remove the front plate of the camera and attach the wheel directly. This brings the backfocus down to just 34.5mm.
The 16200 can also be used with the 2" model of the EFW2 when used with an ATK 0081 M54 adaptor to couple the camera to the wheel. It's also fully compatible with Atik Air, making it easy to add wifi and ethernet connectivity to your set up.
Housing the CCD in a sealed, argon-purged chamber creates a dry, condensation free environment. We've also introduced a dual-stage peltier and powerful new heatsink for optimum cooling performance. At -45°C typical and a huge -50°C maximum, it’s our best delta yet. All this means you can take stunning low noise images, even when the temperature's rising outside.
Atik's high-quality, custom electronics power the sensor to give a read noise of just 9e-. There's also a new blade shutter which provides consistent and reliable performance over the camera's lifespan.
All this is housed inside a brand new case design that gives you optimum performance with minimum fuss. This makes the Atik 16200 the perfect camera for astrophotographers who want large format images, without the large format price tag.
A note on CCD Grades
The Atik 16200 comes with a class II sensor fitted as standard. We feel that the premium prices placed on class 1 sensors just aren’t justifiable when using the camera for astrophotography. If you do require a camera with a class 1 sensor, please get in touch with your Atik dealer.
7 Position Electronic Filter Wheel for Large Format Cameras
The EFW3 gives you more freedom and convenience to your imaging set up.
For a large format wheel, the EFW3 boasts a slim, lightweight design. It measures 238×213mm dimensions and weighs in at just approx. 850g. This is great news for large format set ups where weight can be a real concern. That said, the wheel is fully compatible with any Atik camera when using the supplied M54 or M42 adaptors. We’ve simplified the technical side of the design from the EFW2 to further improve reliability and minimise component wear and tear. However, it's still machined from solid aluminium to produce a durable and quality wheel that will keep turning, night after night.
Atik 16200 users will also be pleased to know that the EFW3 can either be attached directly to the camera as it is, or after removing the front plate to further minimise any backfocus requirements. With the front plate attached, the backfocus is 41.5mm, while the backfocus with the front plate removed is just 34.5mm.
On the software side of things, the EFW3 has a full ASCOM driver, so any complaint software can be used to control it. Additionally the EFW3 can be controlled using our Artemis Capture software, for simple and efficient operation
The Atik OAG
The Atik OAG features an extremely smooth and precise fine focus system, with extension rings of 3 different lengths, so that different types of cameras reach focus with different types of autoguiders.
It interfaces perfectly with the EFW2.2, meaning that no spacing exists between both units, keeping total backfocus requirements low. The OAG can also be used without the EFW2.2 by using an adapter.
Plus an M54 adapter suitable for use connecting the EFW 2/3 to a camera with an M54 front connection.
