The TE-77 is the powerhouse of the TE series. Built around the e2v CCD 77 sensor, it provides an unmatched full well capacity of 315,000 electrons per pixel and a remarkable 24 μm pixel size. With its 512 × 512 resolution and 12.3 mm × 12.3 mm active area, the TE-77 is engineered for applications where sensitivity, depth, and dynamic range outweigh pixel count.
The TE-77 is uniquely suited to environments where signal levels are extremely low, and every captured photon carries critical information.
Thanks to its extra-large pixels (24 μm), the TE-77 achieves an extraordinary 315,000 electron full well capacity. This means it can capture an enormous amount of signal before saturation, making it ideal for high-dynamic-range scenarios.
The TE-77’s pixel architecture ensures that no photon goes to waste, providing both sensitivity and robustness in challenging environments..
The dark current of 0.0005 e-/px/s at -20°C, combined with its 40°C below ambient TE cooling, ensures that thermal noise is virtually eliminated, even during exposures lasting many hours.
Like the TE-47, the TE-77 offers an optional physical shutter, allowing precise exposure timing and minimizing artifacts during fast acquisition. This capability makes it suitable for synchronized multi-camera arrays or experiments requiring exact timing control.
With an exposure range of 0.01 seconds to 24 hours, the TE-77 is perfectly suited for marathon imaging sessions. Researchers can record slow processes or accumulate extremely faint signals over time without sacrificing image quality.
Despite its emphasis on low noise and sensitivity, the TE-77 offers adaptable frame rates. It supports 3.678 FPS in preview mode, 0.688 FPS in low noise mode, and 0.361 FPS in lowest noise mode.
This flexibility allows operators to tailor acquisition speed to their specific workflow, whether optimizing for speed during alignment or maximizing sensitivity for final data collection.
