PCR and qPCR

Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) is a technique used to amplify small segments of DNA which subsequently enables further analysis of a larger amount of DNA.

Quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (qPCR) adds the elements of fluorescent dye and a fluorometer to the process. This makes qPCR a measurement technique; qPCR instruments are the most commonly used systems for detection of the SARS-COV-2 Virus.

We have developed imaging solutions that have been placed into thousands of qPCR machines around the world that have themselves undertaken hundreds of thousands of tests per day. Commenting on the challenge that this posed, Atik CEO Stephen Chambers stated “With the paramount importance of the COVID-19 challenge, it was vital that Atik Cameras provided a camera that was well suited to the task. Drawing on our scientific imaging expertise, as well as our extensive research and development capabilities, we’ve developed the VS255 and VS285 cameras to offer OEM’s and clinical diagnostic laboratories a high-performing tool to facilitate the accurate diagnosis of active COVID-19 infections.”
