With a resolution of 6252 × 4176 pixels and an APS-C sensor format, the Apx26 captures ultra-clean, wide-field images. Its zero amp glow, deep cooling, and ultra-low read noise make it an excellent tool for faint object detection in astrophotography, space domain awareness (SDA), and life science applications.
The Apx26’s 3.76 μm pixel size strikes a fine balance between resolution and sensitivity. This design ensures that users can capture finely detailed structures while retaining enough full well capacity (51,000 electrons) to achieve a wide dynamic range.
Its low read noise architecture – down to 1.2 e- in High Gain Mode – is particularly important in applications where weak signals must be detected above the background noise. Combined with its exceptionally low dark current (0.0008 e-/s/px at -15°C), the camera enables long exposures up to 24 hours without degrading image integrity.
The Apx26 employs a high-performance thermoelectric cooling system, capable of lowering the sensor temperature 35°C below ambient. This significantly reduces dark current, ensuring that signal-to-noise ratios remain optimal even during extended imaging sessions.
This feature is especially valuable for astronomy and SDA, where exposures often run overnight, as well as in life sciences, where experiments demand repeatable conditions over long acquisition cycles.
Its solid yet compact build ensures durability while keeping the footprint small enough for easy deployment in laboratories and observatories.
With a frame rate of 4 FPS at full resolution, the Apx26 balances throughput with detail, making it suitable for both dynamic and static imaging workflows.
