Noise in CCD Cameras

By Jo on

When we’re imaging the night sky with a cooled CCD camera, we’re looking to get the best possible signal to noise ratio we can to create clear and detailed images. There are three main types of noise associated with CCDs, and we’ve taken a closer look at what each them is, where they come from and what we do to minimise them in our cameras and in our images.
