First Light with the Atik 16200

101 PGCs around M101

With the Atik 16200 now a fully-fledged member of the Atik lineup, it’s great to see some first light images starting to come in from our customers.

One example is this incredible image of Messier 101 taken by Phil Shepherd with an Atik 16200 and an Altair 102mm Triplet with 1.0 field flattener on a CEM60-EC mount.

The image consists of 12x600s subs and was processed in PixInsight. Below is an annotated version of the image done using PixInsight’s annotation tool, which has identified a rather satisfying 101 objects from the Catalogue of Principle Galaxies (PGC) surrounding M101. This is something of a testament to the huge field of view you can achieve with the camera, balanced against some rather impressive detail in the fainter galaxies.

Thanks for sharing, Phil, and we look forward to seeing more of your images.

If you have any images you’d like to share with us, feel free to free to email us or share them with us on Facebook and Twitter.
